in a general 'flag to get fixed / looked at' error reports are the way to go.. reviews (even 1 star ones) get lost in the shuffle. if there is something wrong with a show, file an error report on the show and an admin will look at it, however far into the future it happens... 1 star reviews artificially lower the shows' rating but then again, if there is a problem with the show, viewers of that details page need to know about it, and our current system of reporting an error doesn't visually flag the show so that users know what if any problme exists with that show... my recommendation? do both and in the review put: "ADMINS:Please delete this review wehn the problem is fixed" .. that way if it is fixed, the review is dleted too, so future viewers don't read the review, thinking the show is messed up when in reality it has been fixed...

and this problem sounds very unique and weird... are you the taper? is his/her copy like this? is it just your computer perhaps? ... have you expanded the wav form out in soundforge or a similar program and confirmed there is a 2 second gap of silence at the end? perhaps you burned an auido diso TAO and that is what yuo're hearing? .. thoughts?

There isn't a published document explaining a right way to do this, so I figure I'll drop 2 cents on this too.

Error reports for problems with the audio are not always the best idea. Sometimes there are reports of stuff like this (gaps in the songs) when the problem wasn't the files but that the end user was not burning Disc At Once, or was burning MP3's to an audio disc. In addition, here's an example of an issue I had with that about a year ago.

1. Fan posts an error report about a 3 second dropout on a track.
2. I emailed the uploader asking for help to fix.
3. Uploader responds that he/she was not the taper, and all he/she has are the files we have so there is nothing to fix it with.
4. I close the report which notifies the reporter that this cannot be fixed by anyone in our power to contact.
5. Other fans download the same recording, and see no problem notes about the dropout (cause they can't see error reports).
6. Another report gets opened.
7. I send a 2nd email to the uploader, cause there's no way for me to tell that I already contacted him/her 4 months ago...
8. Annoyed uploader tells me "Get your head out of the sand dude! I already explained this - I don't have anything to fix it with, stop bothering me!".

So, in my very humble opinion - problems with sound, dropouts, pops, and other audio issues that a LMA admin cannot fix his or herself should be noted with a Review and not with an error report.

Reviews are more public, and there is a better chance of another fan reading it who *does* have access to the files so they can fix it. I occasionally check up on reviews of all my past recordings, I'm sure other tapers do too. If another fan has access to a cleaner copy of the files and reads the review, he/she may upload it - whereas other fans will never see an error report.

I say no to error report for this, and yes to 1 star review.

Shoot, we're then stuck with the problem where if an error report is left as a review, fans may see it when they visit the item of interest, but admins may never stumble onto a fixable problem among thousands of reviews.

Yet I appreciate the closed/unfixable/rereported error report cycle is a significant problem too. We've got that Scylla and Charybdis thing going on here...

Is there a way to specify a search of 'all shows I uploaded that have reviews' ?

Thanks for all your words of wisdom. I just submitted a 1-star review with a request to admins to remove it when the problem is fixed. As stated in my review, I think it's worth 5 stars for the recording and performance.
